RE: Dodge 3500 (diesel) spare parts for Mexico trip?

Who said his 2007 model Dodge has a 6.7L? Mine is an 07, and it has a 5.9L...
Later 07's got the 6.7.

RE: GM's plan presented

The quality problems with the big three have improved but only in the "initial" period. They still have far too many problems on average after 80,000 to 100,000 or more miles add up. Asian brands don't have the same problems until 200,000 to 275,000+ miles.

RE: Dometic again

The recall does nothing to prevent failures, it only keeps the failure from burning down the rig. So your old fridge would not have lasted any longer if it had the mod installed.
Now if they would only come out with some way to keep them from cracking...

RE: GM's plan presented

As long as they have the mindset to "slash numbers of workers" I say no to giving them money. It shows that they still have no good game plan for building the quality products America wants and until they can do that, they won't make it.

RE: Dodge 3500 (diesel) spare parts for Mexico trip?

Your 6.7, fuel filter is easily changed from under the truck with a flexible ½ drive, I would carry 2 extra filters, to be safe. Also 2 air filters and 2 oil filters, you will have no control over the fuel you will get, more than likely low sulfur not ultra low which the 6.7 requires. Take plenty of fuel additive your choice I use standadyne. I would also carry whatever oil you use for an oil change because you may not find your brand of oil, a couple of 5 gal containers of ultra low fuel from the states to supplement for the low sulfur you will be getting in Mexico not sure if it will help but couldn’t hurt. Other than that have a safe trip and a good time.
:h I suppose if your truck was upside down then it would be easy to change the fuel filter that way, I open the hood, unscrew the lid on the fuel filter, pull it out and insert a new one and screw the cap back on, bump the starter to refill and off I go.
The problem is, for the 6.7 they changed the housing and filter so you can no longer remove the lid to change it from the top. Now you have to pull it out from the bottom. A lousy change IMO.
Being an 07 the OP could have either engine though.

Are you sure it isn't 3"? That's the smallest I've ever seen.

RE: Replace the Dump Hose on 96 Roadtrek 190

I keep two on board. The first is 5' and the second is 10'. I can connect them together if needed and so far, this combo has allowed me to hook-up no matter where I've been.

RE: Adding Turn Signals

I've seen trailers wired up like that and it doesn't look odd at all to have the side marker light when the brakes are on. I'd like to find a nice clear LED lamp assembly to use for this application.

RE: Propane smell inside

Hi Jim, I've never smelled anything as my tank emptied. Do you have any of the little disposable propane cylinders in the rig? Sometimes they stick partially open and slowly leak.
I takes a surprising amount of propane to make the detector go off. You probably just didn't have enough leakage to set it off.

RE: Suburban Anode rod question.

Not sure who "they" are but teflon tape will not insulate the electrical ground connection because the threads cut through the tape. I use the tape every time to prevent the threads from rusting together and I have checked the connection with an ohm meter. So, wether you use the tape or not is up to you but it wont hurt anything if you do.

RE: Camping with a special needs child

My son is very similar to your daughter in his dissabilities. He is now 18 but I carried him in a pack before he could walk and we had a great time. He enjoys camping as much as the rest of us and I know we are building memories that he will never forget. So I say keep taking her along unless it becomes clear she's uncomfortable. Keep in mind that her temperment and abilities will change as she matures, even if it's hard to envision that now.
I think she will have the time of her life!

RE: Any input on ATE® Super Blue Brake fluid.

castrol syntec is what i use. do not put dot 5 in a regular vehicle. its a silicone based racing fluid that will destroy the system.
Also, 5.1 will not mix at all with moisture. This may sound good buts it's really not. The tiny amount of mositure that always acumulates in the system will drain to the lowest point with Dot 5 and rust out master cylinders and calipers. Dot 3 or 4 wont do that.

RE: Frozen pipes or inlet issue?

Are you saying it wont pass water? If the inlet was frozen then the tank and pump could still work since they dont use the inlet.
Generally inlets fail by leaking water backward and not by getting clogged but anything is possible. Most inlets are cheap to replace unless it's part of a larger assembly. What does yours look like?

RE: Bait and Switch

As always there's two sides to any story. Westwind is aware of this post and in the interest of fairness, here is what they had to say:
This man is a horrible, nasty individual with a very bad temper. He had no contract only a receipt for his deposit. I tried to explain that L.K. one of my previous staff members made a mistake and miss quoted the price. He was very unpleasant and so was ask to leave the resort. I gave him a full refund to be rid of him. He was here to see friends who also work for me. They apologized for his behavior and promised to keep him away as this is his usual routine.

RE: DC problems

Recheck the connections to the battery you just installed. Did a smaller wire drop down out of site and fail to get reconnected? Maybe another wire got pulled loose while you were indside there?
One time I sat the battery on top of a vacum line and it eventually wore through. Boy was that hard to find!

RE: New to the Class C world

You can get a fender mounted ant. that mounts in the gap between the front fender and the hood for most chassis. You may also be able to get one to mount in the radio ant's place but those don't usualy work very well.

RE: Battery Charger

Your charger may have failed in a manner that shorts the battery out. If you leave the battery attached to the RV's charging system and connect the new charger, it will be shorted too. You can check the fuses but it may be time for a replacement converter.
